Geometric code

Geometric code (g-code):

invented at MIT in the 1950s.
the fundamental language of CNC.
the most widely used numerical control programming language.
instructs machines where and how to move.

Many different variations, but on the machines in our lab:

G0=G00 = fast move;
G1=G01 = straight move;
G2=G02 = circular arc in negative angle direction (clockwise);
G3=G03 = circular arc in positive angle direction;
...
G20 = set to inches;
G21 = set to mm;
...
G28 = home all axes
...
G90 = absolute
G91 = relative
